Let the Truth Be Told by Laura Izibor
Label:
Atlantic
Released:
18 May 2009
This album is fantastic! I am guilty of hearing some of the songs a few times (on TV or elsewhere) before deciding to sample the full album.
The first two - Shine and Don't Stay, are really great openers.
Shine is really positive and Don't stay features the familiar sort of relationship angst (which turns out to be a recurring theme in the album)
Other stand-outs
What Would You Do - The soft combination of piano and vocals really lets the song speak for itself and gives a focus to the words which are truly heartbreaking.
Yes (I'll Be Your Baby) is a nice change from featuring the downers in relationships. Its encouraging and inspires one (perhaps to make regrettable proclamations).
Mmm... Again with the piano plus a backing choir this time. Rousing.
From My Heart to Yours, I Don't Want You Back are also very good.
Not to take away from the other songs as they do grow on you after a few listens. This is one of the few albums that I own where I don't have my finger on the skip button during playback. A great discovery!
