British Artists Account For One in Seven Albums Sold
The organisation that monitors UK music sales, UK Music, has just released figures that demonstrate just how influential UK artists are around the world. Statistics indicate that British artists account for 1 in 7 albums sold worldwide with British talent such as Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, One Direction, Sam Smith and grandfathers of progressive rock, Pink Floyd all included in the top 10 best-selling albums of 2014.
With huge changes in how music is produced and delivered over the last decade, this is a resounding endorsement of the artistic excellence and commercial quality of the music created and produced here in the British Isles. Of course, all of this could change. The adoption of streaming, and significantly reduced royalties paid to artists as a result, may alter the commercial music landscape again.
Here at find-CD we want to promote and encourage musicians and artists to produce and distribute their work. We're looking at new ways to enable artists to distribute their work independently through our portal, reducing costs and ensuring artists are paid for the work they produce.
