Glastonbury festival licence extended until 2016
Glastonbury Council has granted a licence for the festival to carry on for at least another six years. Although as a recovery measure by the owners of the site, a 2012 festival will not take place to allow the land to regenerate.
This is the first time that the council have made the decision to award the licence without a public hearing taking place, which occurred in the past because of complaints or objections from members of the public.
Meanwhile, you may remember that last week we reported about the threat of a flag ban at the festival, with a poll taking place on the Glastonbury website to decide the fate of flags at the event. It's been a very close divide since the poll was launched, but the results are now in and we can confirm that with 55% of the total vote, 'keep the flags' just pips it to the post! A triumph for all you flag waving, festival-goers out there.
The Glastonbury Festival takes place from 25th – 27th June and tickets were all snapped up in a matter of hours. But that doesn't mean you can't keep up with just a little bit of the festival action.
