Muse and Kasabian rock the NME awards

Last night (24th February) saw the Shockwaves NME awards take place at London's O2 Academy Brixton.

Devonshire rockers Muse picked up two gongs for Best British Band and Best Website, whilst Kasabian matched this success, collecting two awards for Best Album and Best Album Artwork for West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum.

Paul Weller bagged the trophy for Godlike Genius, performing a collection of his greatest hits and his latest single 7+3 Is The Strikers Name, after he collected the award.

Oasis surprisingly came away empty handed, considering they were nominated for three awards; Best Video, Best Live Event and Best Band.

After picking up three gongs at last week's Brit awards Lady Gaga was also presented with a handful of trophies, bizarrely picking up the awards for Best and Worst Dressed star.

Hosted by Jarvis Cocker the event, dubbed as the people's choice of music awards, saw over 3.6 million readers of NME cast their votes to decide on a winner for each category.
