Tributes paid to former Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren

Former Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren sadly lost his battle with cancer yesterday, Thursday 9th April 2010. The 64 year instigator of punk rock, died in a hospital in Switzerland with his partner Young Kim and sons Joseph and Ben at his side.

Sex Pistols front man Jonny Rotten, aka John Lydon, has paid tribute to his manager describing him as "an entertainer". The band was best known for their controversial hits 'God Save The Queen' and 'Anarchy' and their number one album Never Mind The B****cks, Here's The Sex Pistols.

McLaren was also partly responsible for bringing hip hop to the mainstream music scene in the UK, through the release of his solo album Duck Rock, songs from which have been sampled by artisits such as Eminem and Mariah Carey.

As well as working with the Sex Pistols, in 1971 McLaren set up a clothes shop with his then partner Vivienne Westwood, they then went on to have two sons together. His funeral is believed to be taking place in Highgate cemetery in London, a date is yet to be confirmed.
