No surprises at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2011. Lady Gaga who had six nominations swept the board with awards for Best Female, Best Song, Best Fans and Best Video. She announced her hit single "Born This Way" to be "The single most important song I've ever written" and it seems like the most important song to boost her already highly successful career. As usual her performance was superbly professional and her costumes as outlandish as ever but that's Lady Gaga and that's what her "little monsters" expect.
Loudly supported by his teenage fans in spite of the speculative reports about his private life,17 year old Justin Bieber won Best Male and Best Pop Act Awards .
The flamboyant Katy Perry looking perfect in pink won Best Live, Bruno Mars was awarded Best New and Eminem Best Hip Hop.
Performances during the evening by Red Hot Chilli peppers, Coldplay, Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars made it a night to remember for the fans. Held, for the first time, in Belfast the event was something of a scoop for the city. Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol declared that the city was "vibrating with Joy" and as the celebrities strolled along the red carpet and the champagne flowed Belfast partied all night.
