Nominations announced for the Brit Awards 2012
Excitement is definitely beginning build up in the pop/music world now; the nominations for the Brit Awards for 2012 were announced in a ceremony last Thursday at The Savoy (London) in front of a star-studded audience. Many of the nominations were quite obvious choices and were very much expected but there were a few surprises included to keep everyone on their toes.
The Brit awards ceremony is one of the major highlights in the Music industry calendar each year and these coveted awards are most sought after as they serve to identify and reward the very greatest achievements in the business.
Unsurprisingly, Adele and Jessie J are head to head with three nominations each, with both of them nominated for best British female solo artist and best British single along with Florence and the Machine. The British female solo artist award is the most coveted award of all and included in the nominations is Kate Bush who last won in 1987 and the lovely Laura Marling.
Top of the list, however, is Ed Sheeran with no less than four nominations. The 20 year olds rise to stardom has been phenomenal. His nomination for the best single is of course for The A Team, recorded in a flat and which sold 200,000 copies in two weeks. He does have strong competition at the Brits including James Morrison and Noel Gallagher.
The Brit Awards themselves are going to be presented on 21st February 2012 at London's O2 Arena to the lucky winners and will be broadcast live on ITV1. The ceremony will be hosted by comedian/TV personality James Corden for the third time and promises to be as full of colour and showbiz glitz as usual. The Brit Awards is the ultimate showcase for British artists in the music industry and looking at the list of nominees in all categories there is a wealth of musical talent and professionalism. The Brits surely know how to make music and good music at that.
