Megadeth's 1992 album 'COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION' was seen, at the time, as being their most commercial album to date and although it shows elements of 1990's RUST IN PEACE with the heavy metal solos, it presents so much more to the table.

I was introduced to the album when it was released and I decided to just go out and buy and see what I thought. Well, every song is brilliant and each one is full of heavy metal/bordering on hard rock 'epic' solos and fantastic lyrics. Dave Mustaine's own experience as a lyricist is shown perfectly, especially on the title track 'Skin O' My Teeth'. However, the highlight comes in the form of 'Symphony Of Destruction' with one of the best guitar solos that I've ever heard - spellbounding (not sure if that really should be applied to a heavy metal album but it does in this case)!!
