Bob Marley OST (Mint Pack Edition) by Bob Marley and the Wailers
Bob Marley, the man who brought reggae to the world in the 60s died on 11th May 1981,but his music is still instantly recognisable. The ultimate reggae sound, a sound synonomous with the era, love, revolution, peace and rebellion.
This album is the soundtrack of the recently released docu film Marley by Kevin McDonald and there are 24 tracks most of them chosen by family members, arranged in chronological order following the life of Marley as portrayed in the film. There are, of course, the tracks we know, "No Woman No Cry" and "I Shot The Sherrif", recorded live at The Lyceum in 1975 and some we have never before heard on record, "War" from Live! At the Rainbow and "Jammin" from the 1978 Peace Concert in Jamaica. This was the concert where Marley brought together political arch rivals Manley and Seaga.
Marley won a raft of awards and not all of them for his music, these included the Peace Medal of the Third World in 1978 and the Jamaican order of Merit, a Grammy lifetime achievement Award and "One Love" voted Song of the Millenium.
There's an interesting mix of tracks, biographic and revealing. The sound quality is excellent and although many Bob Marley aficionados will already have their collection of albums this is a worthy addition.
There are many excellent Bob Marley albums available and all of them at best prices including the fabulous "Songs of Freedom".
