Military Wives have made it to Christmas number 1 in the singles chart
Here we are – its Christmas – at long last and we now know who has made it to number 1 in the singles chart this time. Wherever You Are by the Military Wives Choir has beaten off all opposition to snatch the most coveted chart placing of the year.
Over 550 thousand copies were sold last week and this ensured X-factor winners Little Mix with Cannonball didn't get a look in (down to 2 this week). The Military Wives were presented with their award during BBC1's Top of the Pops. All proceeds from this single are being donated to the Royal British Legion and the SSAFA (the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association).
Lou Monte with Dominik the Donkey is number 3 and Alex Day is new in this week at 4 with Forever Yours.

Michael Buble's Christmas has obviously utterly delighted his myriad of fans – both young and old. This topical assortment of cleverly produced tracks has certainly produced a result. With classic songs such as It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, Jingle bells and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, a duet with fellow Canadian musical sensation, Shania Twain, and a brand new Michael Buble original, Cold December Night (co-written by Buble himself) it's hardly surprising this album has remained in the number 1 slot for Christmas Week 2011.
Following the tragic untimely death of Amy Winehouse it's no wonder her most recent compilation Lioness – Hidden Treasures has been so enthusiastically received by her fans. This album shows off to perfection the incredibly genius talent of this young performer and serves as a fitting memento for everyone who appreciates her brilliance. Amy Winehouse remains at number 2 this week.
In fact – there has only been a slight change in the top 6 albums this Christmas week. Olly Murs – In Case You Didn't Know has swapped places with Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto. Olly Murs is now number 3 and Coldplay is Number 4 in the album chart this week.
Rihanna and Adele are again numbers 5 and 6 with Talk that Talk and 21, respectively. Adele's 21 has been in the chart for an amazing 48 weeks now! Is there anyone out there who hasn't got it yet?
More albums to look out for in the top 100 albums chart include Heaven by Rebecca Ferguson, Greatest Hits by Westlife, Progress Live by Take That and Fallen Empires by Snow Patrol. Enjoy.
